Leave it better

Every trip funds urban rewilding. A percentage of your booking goes directly to nature restoration projects, so getting away also means giving back. Be curious and support the regenerative places you visit too.

The Outbeing experience is tailored for short trips away from the city to make the most out of your time.

Escape the city, get into nature.

Designed to make adventure achievable & sustainable.

A space for nature

Thoughtfully built from circular materials and designed, with nature in mind from the start. Open the doors and the boundary between van and nature more or less disappears.

Everything you need, nothing else

Fully kitted out for your nature adventure. We've partnered with exciting and aligned brands so you can try some of best kit in the space. Just bring clothes, a towel and your adventurous spirit.

Effortless on the road

Built on the Kia PV5, a state of the art electric van with Guinness World Record breaking range. Smooth, quiet and low impact, whether it's your first time or your fiftieth. Hands down the easiest campervan to drive in the world. We'd bet on it.

This is what time in nature does to you

Life is busy. You probably don't need us to tell you that. But it can take it’s toll. The constant noise, the screens, the pace. Our nervous systems are stuck in a state of low-level alert. Nature, it turns out, is one of the most effective ways to reset.

  • Just 20 minutes outside in a place that feels natural is enough to significantly lower cortisol levels, the hormone your body releases under stress. You don't need to hike a mountain. Sitting still counts.
Frontiers in Psychology, University of Michigan

  • Time in nature increases parasympathetic nervous system activity, the part responsible for rest and recovery, while reducing the sympathetic "fight or flight" response. It's the biological equivalent of finally exhaling.
Antonelli et al., meta-analysis review, Frontiers in Psychology

  • A study of nearly 20,000 people found that two hours in nature per week is the threshold at which measurable health benefits kick in. Under that and the effects are negligible. Over it, and wellbeing climbs significantly. White et all
    White et al., Scientific Reports

  • Humans have spent 99.99% of their evolutionary history in nature. Our bodies recognise it. Which may partly explain why we feel better the moment we arrive somewhere green. As Lucy Jones writes in Losing Eden, "if we are disconnected from the natural world, we are missing out on nourishment for our minds."
Miyazaki, International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction / Jones, Losing Eden

An Outbeing trip typically puts you outside for two to three days. The science suggests that's more than enough to feel the difference.

We’re a nature company…

We're on a mission to change the way we travel. Most travel takes more than it gives, and we built Outbeing as we thought, collectively, we could do better.

Better ways to get out of the city and into nature, without the compromise.

The first fully electric, gas free and regenerative travel company in the UK, with hand-picked places doing genuine good and a percentage of every booking going directly to urban rewilding.

The kind of trip you come back from feeling better about, in every sense.

Our flagship van, now available to book.

What you need before you go

"Before your trip there are a few straightforward things to sort. Here's what to have ready."

Am I eligible?

You'll need to be between 21 and 79, with a full driving licence held for at least two years. We accept UK, EU, Australian and New Zealand licences. If yours isn't a UK licence, just bring your passport too. Up to two minor convictions (3 points each) is fine, anything more may need a quick check with our insurer first. No more than one fault claim in the last five years.

What I need to provide in advance

  • A photo of your driving licence

  • A DVLA licence check code

  • Two proofs of address, from different sources, dated within the last 90 days

  • Your signed hire agreement, including a note of any motor claims or convictions in the last five years

Deposit and excess

We take a £50 refundable security deposit before your trip, not the silly money other rentals ask for. Cash unfortunately isn't something we can accept as it affects the insurance. The excess is £750 per claim and £500 for windscreen damage, so just worth knowing before you go.
